Wabtec evolves its ECM project towards a global business platform with the Nuxeo solution
Evolution of a complex documentary environment towards an interconnected and customized platform at the heart of the information system.
An industrial player and railway equipment manufacturer, Wabtec is present in more than 50 countries, with more than 200 industrial sites and 25,000 employees.
This international growth, driven by numerous acquisitions, was accompanied by a major challenge: to converge heterogeneous tools and processes within a coherent information system.
A common foundation for document management
Since 2016, Wabtec has relied on the Nuxeo solution to structure its document management.
The ECM project currently covers:
- 14 business processes
- more than 10 interfaces with key applications
- more than 30 sites worldwide
- 2,500 users
- more than 5 million documents
The initial objective was to centralize information, simplify exchanges and standardize practices across the group.
A platform extended to business needs
Gradually, the platform was enriched to meet more operational uses. Indeed, several tools were replaced by integrated modules. Thus, these were specifically developed to cover precise business needs.
Integration, driver of transformation
The platform is now part of the group's application ecosystem.
It interacts with:
- SharePoint for document retrieval
- M3 ERP for automatic content generation
- Siemens Teamcenter via the eDoc module
- an MDM repository ensuring data consistency
A Microsoft translation API also makes documents accessible in multiple languages, facilitating their distribution at the international level.
Streamlined and automated processes
The platform now simplifies and automates certain treatments, previously carried out manually.
It now centralizes the collection, generation and merging of documents, which previously required the use of multiple tools.
This makes it possible to ensure reliable operations and reduce manual handling.
A platform at the heart of usage
The Nuxeo solution has gradually established itself as a convergence point for document flows and associated processes.
It is no longer limited to content management, but contributes directly to the execution of business processes and the flow of information between applications.
