The context
In its reflection on the future of its information system, UFF wished to have a POC carried out on Open Source technologies:
- Nuxeo DM for the ECM component
- Liferay for the Portal component
- BonitaSoft for the BPM component
The objective was to understand the integration of the different application components on the portal, as well as the access, usage and configuration of the BonitaSoft BPM solution.
Our intervention
Océane Consulting DM intervened as business and technical architect to design and implement the POC.
Nuxeo configuration was carried out to retrieve metadata and documents from the existing document management system:
- Migration of main metadata from existing documents
- Search interface on 5 to 6 metadata fields
- Display of results with sorting and possible document opening
An example workflow was implemented to illustrate the interactions between the Portal, the BPM and the document management system. At the portal level, several demonstration portlets were developed:
- Document portlet for document search and access
- Process instantiation portlet for workflow launch
- Workflow usage portlet for task search and actions

The results
The POC demonstrated the feasibility of assembling the selected Open Source components and enabled UFF to concretely evaluate the integration of a portal, a document management system and a BPM engine within its future information system.
